Answer:
Meniscal cartilage is extremely important to the knee. Long term studies show that loss of the meniscus leads to degenerative change in many patients. Therefore, it is very important to try and prevent loss of the cartilage or any portion of it. MRIs do not always demonstrate the entire problem. Before attempting return to activity, it is in your knee's best interest to discuss your options with a knee surgeon.
