Question:
I had knee surgery one year ago. One was lateral release and the second was just arthroscopic. My problem is the knee I had the lateral release on oozed orange fluid one week after surgery(which the doctor said was normal) and now I have a black and blue line going down my knee. My knee swells and is very painful. I have received two cortison injections (they helped for about a week). My doctor says I may need another knee surgery. I wish to have a second opinion but i fear my doctor will get upset and not give me the level of care he has been giving me. Can you advise me?

No surgeon should feel uncomfortable when a patient requests a second opinion. A second opinion can solidify a diagnosis or explore other causes or treatments of problems. The standard of care should never change based on subjectivity. You should always feel comfortable with your doctor. Trust is important, as is mutual respect between you and your doctor.
