Jags QB Brunell Returns to Practice

    January 13, 2000

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Quarterback Mark Brunell of the Jacksonville Jaguars returned to practice in limited fashion Tuesday and began gearing up to return for the playoff game against the Miami Dolphins.

It was Brunell's first practice since spraining the medial collateral ligament in his left knee Dec. 26.

``The important thing for me this week is to build up, do some today, do more tomorrow, then hopefully get the majority of the reps by Thursday,' Brunell said.

He took snaps with the first unit to open practice. The rest of the practice was closed to the media.

Coach Tom Coughlin said Brunell's practice regimen over the rest of the week would depend on how he responds in his return to the practice field.

Brunell said the knee was at about 95 percent and he expects to play Saturday.
