IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Donovan McNabb was knocked out of Sunday's game against Dallas with a sprained left knee.McNabb limped off the field after he was pulled down by Cowboys defensive lineman Leon Lett after a fumbled snap late in the third quarter. McNabb was replaced by Doug Pederson.
Tests are scheduled for Monday; Eagles officials described the injury as a slightly sprained medial cruciate ligament. His status for next week's home game against New England will be determined after the exam.
Pederson hit 8-of-12 passes for 108 yards and the only Eagles touchdown in a 20-10 loss. McNabb was 7-of-17 for 49 yards with an interception.
``I hate what happened to Donovan, but that's what I get paid to do, to back up,' Pederson said. ``If he's ready to go, he'll be the starter. But I'm always one play away from going into the game.'
McNabb, the Eagles' No. 1 pick and the second pick overall in the NFL draft last April, actually asked to come back into the game but was held out by the coaches. The Dallas game was his fifth start.
