    Bills' rookie out with injury

Buffalo Bills’ rookie Tony Driver will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury.

Driver, a safety out of University of Notre Dame, was placed on the injured reserve list this past weekend. He tore a ligament in his left knee while covering a kickoff return in the first half of the Bills’ 30-14 loss to Indianapolis on Sunday.

“He’s played very well on special teams,” Bills coach Gregg Williams told the Associated Press. “The lights came on as far as his activity and explosiveness on special teams. It’s just too bad on his part.”

Driver was picked in the sixth round of April’s draft. This season, he played in five games, mostly on special teams. Reconstructive surgery will be scheduled and performed by next week.

Free agent safety Pierson Prioleau, most recently with the San Francisco 49ers, will join the Bills and replace Driver. Williams, however, said that no decision has been made on filling the roster spot.
