Dr. Pierce Scranton, Jr. is Recognized as a Knee1.com Knee Care Hero for His Work with Athletes from High School to College to the NFL and Beyond

Cambridge, MA, June 1, 2002: Knee1.com, a leading Internet Web site for knee health information, recognizes Dr. Pierce Scranton, Jr., as its newest Knee Care Hero. From 1980 until 1997, Dr. Scranton was the team physician for the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and served as President of the NFL Physicians Society from 1995-1996. His NFL experiences led him to write his new book, Playing Hurt: Evaluating and Treating the Warriors of the NFL. "There was a huge spectrum of change in the 18 years from combines to the delivery of health care to the involvement of agents … (and) no one knows what happened except for the 'Old Guard.' I thought I should write about this." Dr. Scranton is currently the President of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Washington. He is a well-recognized expert in the OATS procedure for replacing defective articular cartilage in knees.
