About the Knee Hero Series
Knee1 selects its heroes by identifying the top board-certified orthopaedic surgeons across the globe specializing in knee care. Each potential hero must be a proven leader and innovator in his or her field. Knee1 strives to maintain a diverse pool of heroes by actively identifying leaders from various parts of the US and incorporating internationals heroes as appropriate. Once featured on Knee1, the Knee hero becomes a constant presence on Knee1.com, reviewing content and providing information to Knee1 users via the Ask an Expert feature and online, moderated discussions.

Dr. James Lubowitz: Providing Knee Care in Rural New Mexico
Dr. James Lubowitz is the founder of the Taos Orthopaedic Institute and a member of the medical staff for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team. He also holds the prestigious position of Associate Editor Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery. He is currently practicing medicine in New Mexico, specializing in knee injuries and arthroscopy at the Institute which he founded.

Dr. David McGuire is a clinical instructor at the University of Washington, Seattle as well as being the chairman and founding board member of Life Alaska, a tissue procurement agency. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and is a co-chairman of the Legislative Committee for the Alaska State Medical Association. He practices privately in Anchorage, Alaska, where he specializes in knee and arthroscopic surgery.

Dr. Craig Levitz: Innovator of Knee Fixation Systems
Dr. Craig Levitz is a surgeon at South Nassau Hospital in New York, where he is also the co-chief of sports medicine. He has published over twenty scientific articles, focusing primarily on advancements in knee and shoulder surgery.

Dr. Rafael Iñigo Pavlovich: Pioneering New Innovations in Meniscal Repair
Dr. Pavlovich is the recipient of national honors from several countries, including Mexico, his homeland, and the United States; the author of many influential articles published in prestigious journals as well as member of the editorial board of several major journals; and the winner of several research prizes, including a National Science and Technology award.

Dr. Andree Ellermann: Promoting Knee Care in Children
Dr. Andree Ellermann is the Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at the ARCUS-Sportklinik in Pforzheim, Germany, where he performs a high number of surgeries every year. In addition to leading his own department, he is the author of numerous articles and the founder and organizer of a large multidisciplinary conference on sports medicine. He is sought after as a clinical consultant for the orthopaedic medical industry, and was one of the first physicians to use computer-assisted navigation in ACL repair.

Dr. Jürgen Höher: New Concepts in Meniscal Repair & ACL Reconstruction
Dr. Jürgen Höher has served as the Chief of the Division of Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology Department at the CHARITE University in Berlin, and is currently heading an outpatient sports clinic at the Merheim Hospital in Cologne, Germany and he is also a consultant of the hospital for knee surgery.

Dr. Thomas M. DeBerardino: Orthopedic Care for West Point Cadets
LTC DeBerardino, MD is currently researching PCL reconstruction at Keller Army Hospital, and is also the Research Director of the Joint and Soft Tissue Fellowship collocated at West Point and at the Institute of Surgical Research at Fort Sam Houston in Texas.

Dr. Chadwick Prodromos: A Pioneer in the Field of Knee and Shoulder Repair
Dr. Prodromos is currently the President of the Illinois Sportsmedicine and Orthopaedic Center, and an assistant professor at Rush Medical School. Among his many significant accomplishments, he has devised a new minimally invasive technique for ACL reconstruction including a safer approach for harvesting the hamstring graft. He has also revolutionized our understanding of the factors leading to success in knee realignment procedures.
