I had slipped on the floor and my knee bent in a wrong angle. Since two months, I am facing this problem and now cannot run and jog. My MRI indicated meniscus tear and ligament damage. I am being told by the doctor for an Arthroscopic Surgery. I have never been to any sort of surgery before. Also, at present, I am in a foreign country, living alone, thousands of miles away from Nears and Dears. I am bit worried about the my coming knee surgery and when I came to this form, I get more worried when I saw many ppl's bad experiences. I saw only some cases as encouraging . What do u think?. Should I go for this surgery or not?. Also what is the exact recovery time. and Will I be able to run and jogg or not??. Really worried. Need suggestion.

Whether or not you need surgery, is really up to the extent of your injury and your age/lifestyle. I'm not sure what ligament damage you sustained (most common being the ACL - if so, you should check out the forum on ACL injury/reconstruction too).
If you really don't want to go through surgery (many people live a normal life without ACL, just cannot participate in any cutting/pivoting/twisting sports), you really should try physical therapy to regain the full range of motion and to build up the muscles around your knee to try to prevent any instability episodes.
And I would recommend talking to an orthopedic surgeon and discuss your concerns and options. Good Luck!

You 're right. I have torn my ACL and also have meniscus injury. Can Arthroscopic surgery repairs these two problems. I was told by the doctor that ACL is difficult to heal and difficult to repair. Then arthroscopic surgery will only repair for meniscus tear, I suppose. Will, I be able to run and jog again without repairing of ACL?
