I found this amazing article about a female marathoner, Janet Morgan, aged 58, who ran the GO! St. Louis Marathon after she had knee replacement surgery. Her surgeon, Dr. Paul Lux, admits he's impressed that she ran the whole marathon even though he's seen other patients bike the MS 150, win speed skating medals in the Senior Olympics, and even body building competitions! Morgan adits that four years ago, she asked a doctor if he could find a knee replacement that would allow her to run more marathons. His response was, "That will never happen." She proved him wrong!
I think this article is a great reminder that everyone can work through the pains and frustrations of knee replacement surgery and live actively. If you're recovering from surgery and finding it tough, hang in there like Morgan did! Never let a doctor tell you it's impossible-you can always get a second opinion.
