walking after microfracture surgery

My story is very much like most I have read. Went in to get a meniscus repair and and was told post op I would be back to normal in 2 weeks. I woke up from surgery to find out I had additional work done while he was in there. He did microfracture surgery (the doctor explained it as putting holes in my cartiledge). I never heard of microfracture surgery before so i started researching it. i found that for microfracture surgery to work you have to form something called a "super clot" and for this to work I would need to be on crutches for 6-8 weeks. I was floored after ready this because the hospital had me walk out and I have been walking for two weeks now. While my knee does feel good I am a little concerned that the microfracture surgery will be a waste because they allowed me to walk. My question is, has anyone ever heard of anyone walking right after microfracture surgery or do you think someone messed up. Or is there certain cases were the patient can walk after this type of procedure? thanks for anyones input.
