I had arthroscopic knee surgery a week ago and I am having pain in my thigh area. What causes this..is it a result of the surgical process and how long before the pain subsides?

I had an athroscopy 2 weeks ago and I also had some lower thigh pain. Mine felt like it was muscle pain, and it did go away. Hope your doing ok now.

Can be because a lot of surgeons use a tourniquet which is placed around the thigh for minimal-bloodloss-surgery.

Today I had scope work done and in recovery they gave me a nerve block to get home with. They hooked up a electric box with a clip in my toe and a probe to find a certain nerve. the probing caused in-voluntary contractions of the quads. If you had the same prode done, maybe your feeling muscle pain from the contractions. My 2 cents. Good luck Ray

I had a scope last week and before I was put under, one of the OR techs was going through some things with me which included putting a strap around my thigh so that the surgery would be booodless and he did tell me that my leg would possibly be sore afterward.

hello, I have thigh pain also and I am over 1 month post op. It can be very painful at times...my hip hurts a lot also. I think the hip part is because of the way I have to walk but I am not sure about the thigh pain. I would like to know how long the thigh pain lasts.

This s as close to any help I have found! I hd TKR om May 11 and a few weeks later the doc went back performed the procedure that allows the knee to bend when it is kind of stuck. All went well and I was released from PT with no problems. Then this past Fri, I began having what I call a contraction that begins at the ankle, tightens all the way to the knee and when it stops, it feels like a knife is being driven into the knee.
I have a good pain tolerance but this is non-stop and the tightenng comes every 20 seconds. I was taking percocet 2 every 6 hours and the hospital just suggested to move that to every 4 hours to avoid allowing the pain to get a grip on me. I hate to go sit in eR for 5 hours. No blood clot. I am exhausted. Any info will be helpful!
