I am a 30 year old female. I began to notice swelling in my left knee, no pain, about six weeks ago. Within the last 2 wks I have began having knee pain. Popping, grinding, and clicking. I have limited range of motion in my left knee now and also have decreased sensation of my left leg (below the knee) I also continue to have swelling. I can't think of any particular instance that would have created this. NO injury, NO blow to the knee. I saw my GP and she put me on anti inflammatorys which has not helped and ordered an x-ray which I haven't had taken, yet. I'm going to see an ortho tomorrow. Any takes on my diagnosis? PLEASE HELP!!!

My knee was doing just about what your knee is doing. I was diagnosed with chondromalacia after having my knee scoped and a lateral release done on it. I am unlucky enough to have Grade 1 & 2 in parts of my knee, but the rest of it, including under the patella itself is Grade 3 & 4, so I had to end my nursing career. I am going to get a total knee replacement sometime soon, as I can't even sleep without severe pain. Good luck
