Thanks for your reply. And yes, I agree. After that especially excruciating session (which left me with LESS mobility for a couple of days), I told him I couldn't do that extreme flexing ever again! The latest word is that my PT thinks I need a manipulation (MUA) because he can't figure out why I tighten back up so quickly after he gets me to full extension. I'm to discuss this with my OS tomorrow. I've been doing some research and know that this isn't advised by most. I think I have arthrofibrosis. The second surgery in Jan was done to remove a cyclops lesion and scar tissue and my OS did a gentle manipulation then. So I'm hoping my OS does know what he's doing since he seems to have done the recommended procedure rather than an MUA. We'll see what he says tomorrow. ... I'm very apprehensive about the whole think after the bit of research I've done. :-( amz

Hi - try reading this post...I think it might help!! http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEE...ndex.php?topic=11448.0 I don't think they should be forcing your knee back like that though as it could possibly cause more damage!! I'm not an expert, but as I get my first PT tomorrow I have been reading discussions about it to know what to expect!! Apparently they can do manipulation under anaesthetic (MUA) but this is fairly controversial and not always recommended...(I can see the attraction though as gas was the only thing that took away my dislocation pain!!!)

It has been 6 mo since my initial ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair and 1 month since I had a 2nd surgery to remove cyclops scar tissue. I still can't completely bend or straighten my knee. I'm not sure about the degree of flexion. My PT has always been very painful. But for the past couple of weeks my therapist has been forcibly flexing my knee while I lay on my stomach. The pain goes from extreme to unbearably excruciating. At the last session he didn't stop right away when I screamed and I thought I'd pass out. I just can't take that kind of pain anymore. There's GOT to be a better way. Can't they give you laughing gas or something?! Can't he just flex it to the point of great pain but not unbearably excruciating? Any advice?
