Hi,

I am a 22 year old guy who was involved in an accident about 6 months ago. My most serious injuries included a broken right femur and patella. The femur was fixed with an intramedullary rod, and my leg was placed in a brace. The patella fracture wasn't very severe, and didn't require surgery (no separation). Here I am 6 months later, the doctor has said that the bones have all healed and I can start building the muscles back up. Unfortunatley, I have no medical insurance and I can't afford to go to professional rehab, so I am pretty much on my own. My doctor has told me that I will be able to return to 100% eventually, and that's something that I really am counting on.. I used to live a very active life, I was a long distance runner, I volunteer with my local fire department, and I am trying to become a police officer in the near future.. Obviously, I need to be able to run and jump and kick things without my leg feeling like it's going to fall off. My right leg is very obviously skinnier and less muscular than the left. Can anyone give me any advice on excercises, supplements, foods i should be eating, anything that will help get my leg and knee back to full strength? I take a multi vitamin, calcium supplement, and GNC Triflex (gloucosamine and chondroitin with MSM, and Hyaluronic acid). Anything at all anyone can tell me about getting this thing fixed as soon as possible would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
