Hi All!
this is my first post here as i dont know where to go with any of this and im looking for some insight or some advice...
so heres my story...
currently im 27 year old female but lets go way back to the beginning when i was 10 years old or so...constant knee pain ortho diagnosed me with osgood schlatters disease pain from this continued all through high school....at some point in high school it was found out my knee caps constantly popped out of place....i ended up having surgery to both remove the lumps on my knees as a result of osgood schlatters and also lateral releases on both knees to keep the knee caps in place...i was good for a couple years...22 years old tore my acl in my left knee and broke the tibial plateau off in the process...casted for 8 weeks and physical therapy for 3 months (i forgot to mention in there i tried numerous different pain medications...cortizone injections and these other injections called hydro something-was supposed to help replace some fluid in the knee...needless to say none of these worked)
this brings us to the present....
i used to be very active doing sports always on the move doing something...now i am the mother of a 7 year old boy and i can hardly do anything...my knees are always swollen...there isnt a day that goes by that i dont experience pain in both knees...stairs are horrible and i dread them with a passion...this has very much impacted my life as im not able to do much...
i saw an orthopedic a couple months ago and his response was exercise to strengthen my leg muscles which will result in lifting my knee caps off my knees and relieving pressure...(oh forgot to mention arthritis in both knees-no cartilage left at all) problem is i can hardly walk a block without being in pain and if i make it further and complete a nice walk...then i cant walk the next day...
seems to me the only 2 options are to either deal with this or look into knee replacement of some sort...problem with the latter being im only 27 so i think they would refuse to do this
any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated
thanks guys for listening
