I had it when I was 18 and it made things much worse. Im now 25 and just finished with the carticel surgery, Im 5 mo out and things are already better than they have been for a long time. I think most surgeons require microfracture before they attempt carticel.

My 9 yr old son has been also recommended to have transchondral drilling. Did your 15 yr old have this done as yet? I am interested in knowing the outcome. thanks

Was surgery ever suggested to you when you were younger? My fifteen year old has been basically inactive for four months and the most recent MRI has not shown an improvement. The doctor is now contemplating drilling to increase blood flow to the lesion? Do you have any information with respect to that approach?

Is there a risk that OCD if ignored can lead to conditions such as arthritis? my story is below if it is relevant. I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 16 (8 yrs ago) and very active and treated by putting my right leg in a cast and slowing down for a while. My symptoms have never entirely gone away, and this has led me to ever decreasing levels of activity. I am now 24 and quite inactive, and I still have sharp pain and swelling whenever I try to start working out.
