I injured my shoulder on Aug. 04. The diagnosis was a torn rotator cuff and impingement rt. shoulder. I put off the surgery as long as I could stand the pain, continuing my daily activities as much as possible. In December I couldn't take it anymore and the doctor scheduled surgery. By this time my right scapula was winging out considerably. I brought this to the doctor's attention, and he said that it was due to an inbalance in the amount of muscle tension around that area. He acted like it was no big deal and would clear up with the surgery and rehab. I am now a month and a half into rehab and making very little progress, because scapula wings out with everything I try to do. it is disrupting the mechanics of my whole shoulder. I go in for a follow up visit on Feb. 8th. I am eager to hear what the doctor says. I am watching all of the other rtc. people just blow right past me with their therapy and I am getting very discouraged. What can be done for the winging scapula? and are there any ways to stretch the rotator with out causing the scapula to be involver?
