I have been to several doctors and only one specializes in PKR. I was hoping to find someone in my area(Atlanta) But the doctors here say I'm not a candidate. But the other doctor says I am. I have had all the appropriate test (except the scope). And I get different opinions. They all say here in Atlanta they do PKR, but I'm not sure.
Would you know what Doctors in this area have the most experience with this procedure.
Thanks

Dear Sheila,
You might take a look at our website, www.kinamed.com. Recently we had clinical results published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery for our custom patella femoral implant. A summary is available through the web site. For the right patient we have had very good success.

The prosthesis is designed for end stage, isolated patella femoral arthritis. If your disease affects the other portions of the knee joint it would not be appropriate.

I am a 53 year old active female. I have OA under my right kneecap and have been told that I may be looking at a patella-femoral replacement in the near future. I have had 3 cortisone shots in the past 6 months and each one lasts generally 2 weeks. My question is: Has anyone had this type of surgery? I don't find alot about it on the net ... more TKR than PKR. Thank you. Sheila
