This won't do you much good in the short term Speckly, but a doctor at the University of Pittsburgh is working on a method to regenerate cartilage that would forever change the treatment of arthritis.
You can read more about the research and the study here.
The article is especially promising because Dr. Chu seems so determined to improve the overall treatment of the condition. There are good treatments for damaged cartilage and osteoarthritis out there right now, but they are not good enough, according to Dr. Chu.
It's a little disheartening to see that she is so far from human trials, but something tells me once she gets there, she will succeed in finding a cure.
Keep us updated on your progress.

Hope all is well. Osteoarthritis can severely limit your mobility - depending on your doctor's recommendations and how advanced the osteoarthritis is, you may want to reduce your activity. If your doctor permits you to continue exerting your knee, you should only do what you are comfortable with. I would advise that you think about pursuing a knee replacement sooner rather than later, as success rates tend to be higher when the operation is performed at an earlier stage. (http://formosamedicaltravel.com/medical-tourism-blog/effects-of-delaying-knee-replacement/) When you do pursue surgery, stay positive and follow your physical therapy regimen to the letter, and you'll be back to the physical activity in no time. Best of luck, Don

I had a scope done on my knee July 22 of this year. The doc. diagnosed me with Osteoarthritis? I am still confused. I used to play soccer until I injured my knee over two years ago. I have had four knee surgeries on the same knee. I enjoy physical activities but I want to know if I can run and do other physical activities. I have spent two years nursing this knee and nothing seems to help. The doc. said I will have to have a knee replacement in the future anyways, so should I just do what I want or still watch my activity levels?
