I had my MF on April 16 and fell twice during the 6 weeks of NWB - once going up the steps and once going down the steps at home. Falling down was the most worrisome to me because I landed right on my NWB leg...definitely felt some pain at the time, but I'm up and starting to put weight on the leg now and don't have any pain where I had my MF (tibia). I'm hoping that's a good sign and my ortho said that I certainly wasn't the first person to fall ... I did stay away from wet anything - that seemed to make those crutches slide!

Take it easy and always good to take the right precautions...I ended up sitting on my back side going down those steps for the rest of my recovery. Not too refined, but I didn't fall again!

Best of luck and think positive!

Hi all

I had MF about 2 weeks ago and I must be super clumsy, but I seem to fall off the crutches all the time. The rain is the worst - it makes most surfaces super slippy; especially bad when coming in from the wet and onto a smooth lino surface. In these cases I have to put the bad leg down to save myself. Does anyone else fall. Is it OK? Does it really hamper your recovery?

Be careful all.

Cheers, P
