Hi Megan,
I understand how you feel. I came out in a total shock as well. You can definitely put your foot flat on the ground. My doctor actually encouraged it...as long as I didn't put any pressure or weight on the foot. That advice made me want to keep my foot in the air all of the time, which actually made it harder for me to walk when I got to bear weight at 6 weeks.

I know it is tough, and everyone recommends patience, which is true. My insurance would not cover a CPM machine, so I did all of the exercises by myself, and I am doing really well now. I also worked with a pilates therapy instructor, so I strengthened my core and arms while I couldn't use my legs. This helped me do some activity.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. I appreciated this blog so much when I had so many days at home!

Thank you so much for your reply! I've been trying to keep it up (around the house, I'm in a wheelchair so I can care for my two kids) and sometimes I just want to sit it down, but I've been so afraid to mess up the surgery.

I have my first appt tomorrow, I am filled with questions!

According to my OS - even light touchdown is ok. My lesion was on the femur.
Yeah - i'd say flat foot is good. I went light touchdown when carrying things
between the kitchen and the CPM, etc. I'm now almost 10 months post - running
50 miles per week. Still a bit weak in the quad/knee area but all is good. Just
relax - don't overthink this. All will be well.

I've called my doctor so many times, I hate to call them one more time about this. If I am non weight bearing, is it ok to rest my foot flat when sitting?

Forgive my stupid question, I'm still reeling from this unexpected 6 weeks off of my feet.
