Although it sounds like a meniscus tear to me, you need to see an ortho MD just to get a professional opinion.

If you have a meniscus tear, you should not do impact exercise. It might injure the meniscus again. You might want to consider isometrics (no weights) to strengten you quad first.

I had acl reconstruction about 1 year ago and I fully recovered and I was able to do everything previously. There was one thing I hadn't tried yet and that was bouldering. Well, I went bouldering, I fell from about 10 ft and landed on my surgery knee and it was really painful. It felt like my bones were grinding together. I didn't feel a pop, like I did with my acl. I also don't feel the unstability like I did with my acl. I have a hard time straighting my leg and flexing it all the way. It does tend to buckle when I twist. I now only have slight pain on the outside of the knee towards the back, but I have swelling below the knee cap. I can't really afford another surgery. Do you think this is a meniscus tear? Is this something I need to get looked at or can I just modify my exercise for the time being until I can afford to do something about it. I have been resting, using ice, keeping it wrapped and elevating it and this all seems to help. Please offer any suggestions. Thanks
