Hi, everyone,
This is my first posting on this forum. I developed a cyst in my right knee 20 years ago that resulted in the loss of a third of the lateral meniscus when the cyst was ultimately removed by surgery. Post - op, I was informed that I would develop osteoarthritis some time in the future. Last year that happened. Being a sportsperson I felt a deep sense of worry, especially after initial research into the problem. I have come across proceedures such as microfracture, A.C.I. , Salubria / Salucartilage and TKR, which I don`t want ( I am 40 years old )yet I feel no better informed about my options 12 months on from my initial research. Unfortunately, I have had little encouragement from the medicos who have treated me up until now. I live in Japan and the best treatment I have found is a fortnightly injection of hyaluronic acid. The specialist who treats me doesn`t speak English but seems to think that nothing can be done for me on the grounds that he believes my osteoarthritis to be too far developed - level 3, level 5 being the worst.
So, if there is anyone out there who has information to help me, by all means do so. I would be very grateful.
