I had a medial meniscus taken care of last August. They had to remove 1/3 of it. Based upon what my PT who helped discover the problem and my Ortho surgeon, they really cannot tell the extent of the damage without an MRI. Beat them up until they give you one.

I started having swelling and pain on my R knee after skating ( not strenuously) in December 2007. After weeks of pain and swelling saw an ortho and he took an x-ray. Diagnosos- degenerated meniscus.

He prescibed 6-8 sessions of PT. First couple went fine . no swelling but constant pain to the touch of inner knee area. Swelling has returned to the point where stairs are a challenge.

Would an MRI help to determine if surgery or therapy can cure this?

I am frustrated with the lack of progress. What is the reluctance to do the MRI?

I am an active dad that coaches baseball and stays active playing golf. Both right now seem doubtful.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks
