Hello,

Friday the 15th had the surgery done on my left knee. So far so good. The surgery went well, and the after surgery even better.I'm not exaggerating if I say, it was easy than cleanning your teeth to the dentist,

I'm looking foward to the recovery now, and what type of exercises, and at what load should I do.

I will appriceate any kind of advice.

Thanks

Art

Thanks guys, did call the doc office today and I'm doing one at the time. Starting with the worst, the left, and shall see how long is going to take recovery..... Then decide for the second knee.

I tore my meniscus in my left knee. The knee was pretty weak for 10 days. I was able to get around with a cane, I still could drive and take short walks. My question is how you going to get to Physical Therapy? Someone driving you. Do you have stairs to climb at the house? These are some questions to be asked and answered by you. It is surgery on you, not the doctors command.

Hello Arti-

I'm sorry to hear about your knees. That is quite unfortunate that both your knees have torn meniscuses.. meniscusi? Not sure what the plural would be for that, but either way, it doesn't sound fun.

Though I dont have any personal experience with it, I would suggest getting both done at the same time. Only because.. well, would you really want to undergo surgery twice? I'm all about getting it over and done with as quickly as possible.. Keep us posted on your progress once you decide what to do though! It'll probably help you during your PT to come here and vent about how much everything sucks or something..

As for how long it's going to take, I think it probably depends on how your surgery goes and how badly your knees are injured. I would say ask your orthpedic surgeon for specific details.. Or maybe you could post a comment on this user's blog - he underwent "scope surgery" for a torn meniscus a few months ago...

Another useful resource might be Knee1's Preparing for Surgery section... Good luck!

Hello, I'm diagnosed with torn meniscus on both knees. The surgeon insisted having both done in the same day, suggesting that the recovery time is the same. I'm 47 , and this is first time having a surgery. My question/advice is: should I do both, or one at the time?? If doing both in the same time how long is going to take before I can walk without crunches???

Thanks
