crucial ligament damage

Hello im a 20 year old guy who plays alot of football (soccer) and few weeks ago i think i must have twisted my right knee or landed on it too hard, it hurt during the match but really started to notice the pain afterward. Its been tender ever since, I can still play but it really hurts after for a day or so. Is this ligament damage of any kind? If so how long will it take to heal assuming it will heal on its own?
