Hi everyone.
I just want to quickly share my story, and then I need help.
Im an active 17 year old, who tore my ACL playing rugby in the spring of '07. I had reconstructive surgery on Aug 28 2007 and got a really bad staph infection. Since then I havent been able to walk without a limp, go up or down a flight of stairs properly, or bend my knee more then 100 degrees.
The infection ate away 40% of my meniscus, and a good portion of my femur and tibia.
Im the worst case my surgeon has ever seen, and there is no way to fix my knee without a knee replacement.
I have had six knee surgeries in less then a year.
Sports used to be my life, and I was an avid soccer player. Now I cant run, and wont be able to untill I get a knee replacement.
No surgeon really knws what to do with me because no one has ever seen a knee this bad on a 17 year old.
I can't walk or stand for more then 15 minutes without intense pain.
My knee is now arthritic and I don't know what to do.
Im too young for a knee replacement, but I want to be a normal teenager again. I have had to drastically change my life around, and my life is constantly ruled by appointments.
Me and my family are desperate, we need help.
We need the best surgeon we can get.
Money isn't an issue.
Im from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and so if anyone knows anything that will help I would be extremely grateful!
