Hey everyone,
I am new here but not new to knee pain. I guess I will start with an explaination of my issues and how it all started.
I was 14 when I injured my leg. I was at school and just finished gym class and another student thought it would be cool to pick on me and pushed me and as I was falling he grabbed my foot and twisted. My knee cap popped out of place and the mess started there. Two weeks later I had an appointment with a specialist and he scheduled the surgery that day to repair my meniscus.
I stayed in physio for a month after that and it was not helping me at all; even the tens pads refused to make my knee jump or twitch. So I went back to the specialist and he refused to help me further and told me to discontinue the physio if it was not helping but there was nothing more he could help me with. At this point I still could not bend my knee and my quad had deteriorated a lot.
I limped and hobbled for two more years without much use in my leg. I finally got a referall to another specialist who immediately knew how to help me. I had surgery and my knee finally began to get better. I was able to do almost all the things I used to do like biking and running and even walking.
Current State: Six Years Later
My knee cap is not moving with my leg and seems to be floating out of place. It has a massive tilt to the inside of my leg which developped over the last year. The burning pain keeps me awake at night and it often pops and cracks and locks. I just saw my Dr who is referring me to a new specialist; supposed to be one of the best. He gave me a prescription for an NSAID and xrays and physio. My quad is quite a bit smaller then my right leg (good leg) and so on.
From what I am gathering this leads me to realignment surgery? Has anyone else had this tilt and constant burning pain? If it is realignment surgery, how long is the recovery in reality (I have read up to six months)?
I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me. I am really worried this time because I feel like this knee problem is NEVER going to stop haunting me.
Thank you,
-Josh
