I am an active 40 year old following a regular workout regiment...that's to say I'm in good shape. In 2006 I had a meniscus repair, 2008 OATS procedure and in May another meniscus repair - this time leaving me 10% that is any good. All of these procedures were on my right knee. I also had a meniscus repair in 2009 to my left knee.

I was blessed with poor knees but 5 years years ago took up running to challenge myself physically and became addicted. After completing a half marathon and numerous 5 and 10Ks, I started to develop issues with my right knee which started me down this road (right at the beginning of triathlon training).

I have now been told that I need to address another femoral condyle defect in my right knee as well as a meniscus transplant. I have been given 2 options: ACI with donor cells from an adolescent or a hemicap and I'm looking for some input. I have a fairly decent understanding of the risks in both but wondered if anyone else has a similar situation or had these procedures done and their experiences.

I am concerned on longevity and my mobility issues considering I'm not through staying in shape and "running" after my kids. The REAL running is done now and I cycle or walk for cardio. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Chris
