Had a TKR done April 2009 by the Veterans Administration. Previous injury to this knee resulted in a slocum procedure done in 1971 at a Marine Corps Hospital.
Surgery went well and was assigned 12 sessions of PT. Did a month follow-up. Surgeon was impressed, rx was 12 more sessions and return in 30 days.
Now the bad part. Waited on VA approval for the next session of PT. 20 days lapsed with no PT and returned to surgeon.
He went bonkers when he found out I was denied further PT. He made a phone call and I was to resume PT. I resumed but lost the range of motion that I so badly fought to have.
My ROM is 15 degrees to 85-90-95 degrees. No further. I have been like this for 2 years and not getting any better. I am 60 years old and a Vietnam Combat Veteran.
Can I get this knee repaired, replaced, or am I stuck in this ROM limitation for the rest of my life?
I was denied PT by an Office Secretary trying to cut budgets as needed.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Manipulation is out of the picture. And to make matters worse, I have Agent Orange from Vietnam and have been rewarded diabetes from the herbicide. No family history of diabetes.
