mrsmoothy, You are in luck! I know a "Dr. House" and his name is Dr. Lewellen at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. I hope you are in a place that would allow you to go there because he is Head of Adult Orthopedics and his motto is "We NEVER quit" until the problem is fixed. I have had 16 surgeries on my left knee in the past ten years and he has done five surgeries at Mayo. I have just completed two an a half months in a full leg cast and just got it off yesterday. Needless to say, the leg feels better than it ever has before. I truly think this may be the ONE! Wish me lucky and I will do the same for all of you!

Becky

I've had similar pain, first in the left knee starting about 4 years ago, then in the right knee about 2 years ago. The pain was sharp and could come on all of a sudden and disappear just as fast with no sign that there was ever a problem. The pain seemed to come and go randomly, and it still does -- i.e., I can't associate it with any particular activity of position. My MRI was normal and 3 doctors called it a 'mystery knee' and I still have no diagnosis. Now certain activities are causing a different kind of pain which prevents walking or putting weight on my knee. The pain has never occurred in both knees at once. Sometimes it jumps from one knee to the other. I thought for sure it was a neurological problem, but now I'm not so sure. It's driving me crazy, but after reading some of the posts on this website, it appears others may have this mystery pain as well. Most doctors (that I've seen) really suck at diagnostics. I'm looking for the "Dr. House" of knee pathologies.

Hi,

I also have knee pain, and all the x-rays shows that nothing is wrong. It hurts me when I apply sudden weight on it, when going down steep stairs, and when kneeling down, I have to do it slowly or else it will start to hurt.

Thanks!

Maybe a visit to your primary care provider is in order?!

Hi people

I hope someone can give me an explanation for this, as I am already thinking the worse.

I had this knee pain for a time but it always came and went so never paid it too much attention.Couple of months back the pain started on my left knee and now both knees are hurting me.
They don't hurt when stretched, but when im about to sit down, stand up,if i stay in the same position for more then few minutes..it just hurts so much.

I already had an X ray but docs could not detect anything.

Next thing is that now my hips (bum sides) are hurting too...not during the day, but during the nigth when i sleep on a certain side. I keep waking up and have to lay on my back and stretch till the pain is gone.

I am so frustrated, my whole legs are aching, feel like 60 (and i am only 26 years old).

Anyone help me, what can this be?
