MotoJoe,

I tore my acl playing flag football and had full range of motion, some pain, and very little swelling. I had the same questions as you before I had the MRI. Just take it easy until you can get in and get your MRI. If it is a torn ACL, you can cause more damage if you're not easy on it.

If you want, I have a blog about my whole story at ACL Journal

I had a motorcycle accident. When I jumped off the bike my whole body landed on my right foot and my knee gave out. When I got up and walked my knee kept buckleing and kinda giving in. I went to the hospital and no brakes in the bones. Its four days later and I can walk on it without it giving out at all, but it is very stiff and I have a heavy limp. The orthopedist said I could have a possible acl tare but he wasnt sure so Im waiting to get a MRI. It takes a while so I have to wait bec of insurance. My question is if the acl is torn wouldnt there be alot of swelling? (Have minor swelling, feels a little brused) and would I be in pain? I hardly have pain nor did I at the time of the injury. I just feel very stiff and uncomfortable. Thanks for all the help
