I just went through this. I heard a pop in my knee, it swelled to the point that I couldn't walk. Had an MRI and found that my knee was filled with fluid and tiny possibility of a meniscus tear. My ortho removed some fluid, gave me a cortisone shot, and told to rest, ice and elevate it and call on Mon (4 days from the appt). I have been using a walker, and am today going to try a cane and going to the pool to try stairs as I live in an upstairs apt and have been staying at my mother's since I was unsafe at home. It is now 2 days later and I feel much better, the knee is still unstable, but it is much improved and am hoping to be on the cane today and off all assistance day after tomorrow. So, try elevating it and ice the heck out of it until you can see a doctor. Good luck.

Hi,
I am a young woman and quite sporty. The last two years I have been doing power yoga and lately I have a problem with my knee. I don't feel pain but a discomfort and the feeling my knee if filled with some kind of liquid which is going to pop if I bend my knee too much.
I haven't seen a doctor yet. I am planing to do so as soon as I get back home- I am living abroad at the moment and can't say I trust doctors here- but would like to have an idea of what I have to deal with .
