HELP need opinion for best treatment

I am a 21 year old female and was in a motorcycle accident in the Dominican Republic, after returning to the US and having 10 surgeries, I have no patella, 5screws in my femur, torn ligaments, damaged extensor mechanism and as a result of infection a lot of my quad muscle has been removed. I have recieved 2 skin grafts so far to get my knee covered and that is now healing nicely. However, the cartilage between my femur and tibia is just deteriorating and I can't walk on it how it is now, I sort of have an involuntary fusion I suppose. Two surgeons have told me that they think my best option (and what they would do) is to get a fusion and have a metal bar go from my hip to my ankle. I am very uneasy about this because it can't be undone so I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this kind of injury or if you know of surgeons it might be worth seeing. Thank you.
