Hello . In December of 2003 I went sledding , slid off the sled and my knee went right into a rock . Stupid me waited a month before I went to the doctor . They took x-rays but couldn't tell me if I had fractured my patella or not . I went through PT , Cortisone injections , anti-inflammatories , glucosamine chondroitin , knee brace , ice/heat etc. my knee felt great up until a few months ago . I protected it . No more roller blading , not resting my knee on the floor when mopping , careful when I bent it . And especially NO MORE SLEDDING . I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and she gave me a script for more anti-inflammatories , she wants to see if the meds helped , if not go in for a MRI . I go to the doctor tomorrow . My knee cracks , pops and grinds . It swells aches etc . I'm on my second dr. for my knee . I just hope they can do something about it this time . Any input would be helpful . Thanks Shelby Email dingbat1971_1@yahoo.com

I am sorry to hear about your injury, 3 weeks ago I severely bruised my patella, and it has been slow to heal so far. I would recommend you supplement your diet with Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate (with MSM, and anti-inflammatory). Basically, Rest is the best medicine at first, ice it to reduce any swelling, and I would introduce lots of "dark green" vegtables to your diet if you have not already done so - as they have a higher concentration of Iron, which is very useful for tissue repair (and red cell growth). Otherwise, you may want to try "alternative medicinal solutions" such as "Ultrasound Exposure" or Accupuncture. Cheers, Shawn

I have a broken Patella. It has been four months. At fist I wore a brace. After Five weeks it was removed, but after the pain became stronger. I had an MRI,which indicated that the bone had not completely knitted and that I had a torn Miniscus. They provided me with a bone healing machine. The pain seems to be getting worse.

I recently fractured my patella and wondered what the recovery time is and when rehab can start. Also, what can I do in the meantime?

What procedures are taken if you dislocated your knee about a month ago and it still feels like it is not quite set correctly after resetting it yourself

My name is Jeff. I broke my knee cap and tore my patello tendon two years ago. I had surgery two years ago to repair it. They did a shitty job. My knee is still broken and has been for the past two years. The tendon is repaired,,I think. I just went back to a new doctor that said that the only thing that is holding my knee cap together is scar tissue. He said in order to fix it he would have to go back in, for the third time, and scrape out all of the scar tissue and then determine whether or not to do a bone graf. It a bone graf is not necessary then he would stich my knee cap back together and inforce it with a wire. I have been in pain for two years and need some advice.
