Last week, Manchester, New Hampshire native charlie Charlie Davies was in a serious car wreck in Washington, DC, which killed a passenger in the car. One of two survivors in the car, Charlie suffered a broken right leg in two places, a fractured elbow, and cheek bone damage among other injuries. Charlie was home from Europe for a World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica, which the team went on to tie 2 - 2. The injuries will sideline Charlie for an expected 8 to 12 months, putting the World Cup in South Africa this June out of the question. The accident also coming during Davies' first season at Sochaux, a team in the first division in France. He transfered to the team from Sweden's Hammarby earlier this year. With World Cup 2010 on the horizon and after a recent move to better his career, this injury could not have come at a worse time.
