My knees were injured in a MVA 2 years ago when I was 30. I have had constant, unrelenting pain and swelling (anterior & posterior) in both knees since the accident. Last June, my doctor found softening of the Articular cartilages and proceeded to drill several holes to cause bleeding and to hopefully cause healing. To no avail, I have had no relief. We have tried P.T., Synvisc, Hylagan, and Cortizone injections. I also take 100 mg B6, 1500 mg Chondroitin Sulfate, MSN, Glucosamine Complex, 500 mg Pantothenic Acid, and 1000 mg of Vitamin C along with a multivitamin everyday, (Ultram and Naproxen for pain). Ice numbs the pain but doesn't eleviate the swelling. Moist heat causes my knees to swell even more. I am at my witts end. I can't walk, stand, climb, run, work or do anything else meaningful without mind boggleing pain. The more I move, the more it hurts. It feels as if my knees are going to explode. Sometimes it feels as if something is going to burst out of the back of my knees. Is there something else I can do to stop the pain and return to a normal life? Or am I doomed to have this horrible pain the rest of my life?
