My MRI showed nothing either other than some wear and tear but the Physio found i was in too much pain to be treated and got me referred to an orthorpeadic trauma specialist. He immediately gave me the choice of wait and see with more physio or go for an Arthroscopy. Two months after the injury I chose latter and had plica cut away and my knee cap shaves, plus reassurance that my ACL and menisci are fine. Pain at the side of my knee cap has disappeared and just a knee cap tracking problem to sort now. If physio is not working for you - can't you do the same ?

Six months ago, I fell off a dock into a lake. My foot remained planted on the dock for much of the duration of the fall. I was diagnosed with an MCL sprain at urgent care. My orthopedist sent me to physical therapy for 6 weeks. My injured knee eventually became strong enough to lift as much weight as my normal knee. However, my injured knee is still very stiff after sitting or sleeping. Also, the spot of the MCL injury is still painful to the touch. My orthopedist sent me for an MRI to check for torn cartiledge or other factors. Both my orthopedist and the radiologist see very little on the MRI other than a slight swelling at the injury site. Where do I go from here? I am in my early 30s and I don't want to be prescribed pain medication as my life prognosis. I also don't want to just cover up the pain, especially if I should be doing something to prevent further damage.
