you need a thorough evaluation by a qualifed ortho. you have mechanical locking that may need surgery to fix, a torn ACL puts you at very high risk for more meniscus tears, and every time your patella dislocates there is possible cartilage damage.

i recently had lateral release and proximal realignment for left patellar dislocations. (probably two dozen over the last 20 years) they were also going to try microfrx on the patella to help with the pain but when they went in I had torn so much cartilage off the back of the patella, and over such a large area, from the repeated dislocations that they couldnt do the microfrx.

bottom line, get it fixed ASAP b/c you are just doing more and more damage over time.

Okay I need help if anyone can give me some answers or know of anyone who can i would greatly appreciate it. I am 24 and have had knee problems since my 13th birthday when i had my first patellar dislocation and have been having them ever since about once every three months or so. It has become less of an issue because the pain seems to be less each time. With that being said i have an ACL tear and a miniscus tear as well but the problem seems to be (and excuse me for not knowing the anatomy of the knee) when my knee is bent it locks from behind , and this has nothing to do with the patella... Heres what happens if i sit on my knees in a kneeling position and lean one way or the other the back of my knee "catches" and i cant get it straight no more than a ninty degree angle i have to twist it and lay on the ground and manipulate it untill i can straighten it again. It can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes and Im in horrible pain the whole time. it seems to have become worse since i had a baby 4 months ago its already happend twice. I went to the naval doctor who wanted me to lock it up infront of him....haha.... i laughed in his face... i dont think he knows how bad it hurts.... if anyone has any info on this please reply or e-mail me at bluexo0oxskies@gmail.com!! thanks
