What surgery has been recommended to you? Was this from an OS that specializes in knees? Why are the chances for the surgery helping very low? Can you go to formal PT and have a therapist work with you on strenghtening the VMO? Every time the patella dislocates it does more irreparable damage. Has anyone said why they are dislocating? IF not you need to find an OS that can tell you why they are dislocating and what can be done to stop it. My kneecaps started dislocating when I was 8 and I have had hundreds of dislocations. I didn't do anything about it when I was your age and boy do I wish I had! I have needed TKR since I was in my mid 20's thanks to all the dislocations and not doing anything about them. Good luck and keep me posted.

Patty

I am 18 years old, and I have dislocated my knee 21 times. I have not gotten surgery because parents are against it, and recovery chances are very low. I am going to the gym and working my knee out, specifically the one work out where I tie a brace around my ankle, hook it to weights and pull my right leg towards my left leg. I do feel my inside muscle being worked out, but every time i take my knee back to starting position I feel my knee jiggilling and almost comming out again. Does anyone have any good suggestions on how I can take care of this problem and be able to play sports once again?
