Hi Susan,
Sometimes just talking to someone else in your situation helps.I am getting ready for my 2nd knee operation and am very scared about getting into another depression.I am very active and with the last surgery 2years ago ,I gained weight which depressed me even more.If you want to talk ,e-mail me at cranemb@yahoo.com.

I am so glad that I got up off of the couch and found this site. Depression is setting in fast. I had a lateral release and some shredded cartilage removed from my left knee in December. I have never gotten a straight answer as to why the lateral release was done and the pain has been getting worse since Easter. Now I can't even preform simple tasks like housework. I have an 18 month old child and it is getting harder and harder to care for him. In the past week I have gotten to where I don't even want to get out of bed in the morning because I know how miserable the day is going to be. The doc who did my surgery has told me to go to pain management or to get a second opinion; the catch is I don't have any insurance and there is not a doctor in town who will see me on a self pay basis for pain mgt. It took us almost a year to save enough for the surgery I had in December ($7000). I feel absolutely hopeless. Not being able to do anything all day is making me even more miserable. If I go to the park or shopping or any type of activity I almost can't even walk the next day so I just sit home and cry all day. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that might help?

Have you had an MRI done? If not, think about it. Are you seeing an Ortho doc? Again, If not, try this too. It will give the doc a real look at what is going on. Avoiding "pain causing activities" is not an answer and should not be accepted. I have had numerous issues with my knees and I just recovering from a surgery. I could not tell you what you have going on, but can tell you each surgery, for me, has done the job. If exercise works for you wouldn't it be nice to get back to it and avoid the prescribed meds?

i've had some minor knee pain over the last month. lLet me first preface history of knee issue. I was involved in an automobile collision about one year ago; whiplash caused extreme stiffness along right side of body (from shoulder to waist). During this time, while jogging, my body naturally shifted to the left side, which in turn may have affected left knee. For this reason, I stopped running for about 8 Mos.

For now, Doc has told me to avoid pain causing activites. I was jogging about 3 Xs a week to avoid depression/anxiety issues. To alleviate general stress, i've started using Zoloft to leverage...Anyhow, when applying pressure to left knee while getting up from sitting on ground, I feel like a band-aid is being ripped off of a wound under my kneecap. It is extremely painful. Also, when sitting for long periods w/ slightly bending knee, I begin to feel pain. And, while jogging & at times walking, I feel some sharpness or grinding under knee.

Has anyone experienced similiar conern & recieved good feedback from doctor? Pls help. Desperate to jog again soon.
