chondroplasty? anyone?

Has anyone had a chondroplasty for chondromalacia patella? I am scheduled to have one in a few months and I am trying to decide if its going to be a worthwhile procedure,
If you have had this, please tell me your experience, did you get better? worse? stay the same?
