I have chondromalacia grade 4. I think it is now full blown arthritis. No cartilage left) I get cortisone shots , but lately nothing helps.. I thought I woud try synic. My insurance says they pay if the Dr. has it at his office( which they don"t) but if he gives me a prescription, I have to pay. Go figure? Some people says it helps. My last option before the biggey. Has any one ever heard of patella cartilage replacements that are sucessful? With all the bad knees out there looks like research would get moving.

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF SYNVISC SHOTS? IF SO DO THEY WORK ON SEVERE CASES OF CHONDRAMACIA PATELLA? I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH IT IN JANUARY, SEVERE AND I'M TOLD THE ONLY CURE FOR MINE IS SYNVISC SHOTS OR A TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT.

hi, i also have CM but grade 2. the only thing you can do is strengthen your qceps esp. VMO muscle. also cycling against very low resistance and swimming can help. take CM very seriously because otherwise the damage may become worse and at grade3 or sooner you could need operation. I dont want to have operation because of low sucess rates and do anything now to avoid it (PT, swimming, ice, glucosamine etc). hope you get rid of this while you can. best wishes

I am 45 and a avid mtn. and road biker diagnosed with grade 1 chondromalacia palellae centrally and medially. The pain is not allowing me to ride at a hard pace. I have been rideing on a trainer for about 2 months at a very easy pase along with exercises to strengthen other mussels in the leg. Will I ever be able to ride hard again or will I need surgery. The pain is very slight at this pase Thanks Mike
