I understand how frustrating it can be to have these knee problems at such an early age. I am only 21 and get extreme knee pain if I run on anything but flat ground, not even a tredmill. Unfortunately I go to school in a very hilly area and therefore have not been able to run in months. I am going to try a brace however to see if this works. I hope it does!

Your condition and pain is caused when the cartiledge on the underside of the knee cap begin to shred. Usually this is caused by age and too much running etc. I had both knees done. The surgery is simple whereby the knee cap is scraped on the underside to get rid of the shreds hanging down. Due to your age I wonder if it is what you say. If you a doctor has seen it then he knows. The only thing I could due was not run or kneel. Ice will help at the end of the day.

How do you guys manage the pain? I was just diagnosed with Chondromalacia and ibuprofen doesn't seem to touch the pain. It is very annoying and frustrating. I'm only 23 and I don't look forward to dealing with this the rest of my life. What are some things that help you guys? Do the exercises really even help that much? Any kind of insight on pain management would be great!
