Hi... I am two weeks post-op (chondroplasty only) and have been recovering very well. I'm 35 and I heal much slower than you will, you've just had a lot more done with the LR. My advice is to go slow and listen to your knee. I've been talking to a TON of patients with your type of surgery and they are recovering and enjoying sports such as you. Don't push it and stay positive.

I have had a similar problem with my left knee, I doubt that my problem was as bad as yours. It took a long time to get back to normal with the emphasis on a new "normal". I don't have any arthritis ie degeneration of the meniscus & femoral condroyles opposing those, but just behind the patella & thigh bone which faces it. I can't run for more than 20 minutes without afterwards feeling the pain, and badly at that. However checkout this website http://www.biotissue-tec.com There is hope for you and I yet.. Get to talk to your OS again.

Good luck

Hello, My name is Brandon i underwent Surgery for damaged cartiledge on the underside of my patella. I'm 21 years old and i was very active until this started happening. It was to pain full for me to play any sports, run, swim, and do what i love most Surf. Let alone going up and down stairs or anything for the matter that involved extension of my leg. Being i'm only 21 years old im pretty depressed about my situation and i dont know anybody who has had this procedure or even this syndrom. My doctor who i think is very good went in arthroscopically and did a lateral release and shaved down some damaged cartiledge. I recently saw the pictures from surgery and the cartiledge at the apex of the underside of knee looked like little hairs hanging down (i gues there called lesions?) Its been almost 6 weeks since my surgery and i have been going to theropy religiously 3 times a week. however i still feel a lot of pain on the underside of my knee which the doctor says is normal? and part of the healing process? if this is the case have anybody out there had this done and when will i begin to feel better? thanks in advance

The First week i pretty much stayed in bed. The second and third week i was back at work just doing office stuff. Week 4 i was in Puerto Rico on vacation and was begining to feel a bit better but not much. during all this i was walking witch i cane. i never had crutches. While in puerto rico i tried to push my knee a little bit. i started trying to go up stairs slowly and normaly. it was almost pain free and i even went on a begginers hiking path. All which im sure my OS wouldnt like very much. However my knee hasnt really progressed in the past two weeks. i still have lots of pain on the underside of my patella when bent or trying to extend. there is also a cracking which occurs. im told this is the patella slipping back into the femurs groove? anyway im not sure what to expect im just trying to stay possitive and hope what im feeling is normal
