In reply to the 18 yr. old with chronic bursitis-find a DR. that will get to the root of the problem. Something is causing the inflamation at the bursa. For me it was flat and turning in arches that caused a constant pulling on tendons etc. Perhaps a Podiatrist evaluation would be the place to start. Ignoring my foop problem contributed greatly to the total distruction of the knee cartilage and the need for bilateral total knee replacement surgery

Have you tried a chiropractor ? I suffered from an aching throbbing pain in both my knees from the time I was 14 until my early twenties. I complained to a doctor when I was younger, said it was growing pains, that it would go away, and to stay away from stairs, bicycles, horse riding etc. I just learned to live with the pain. When I started driving a car, I would have to stop and stretch every 15-20 minutes on bad days ... or just drive, sometimes in tears. Several years ago I had a horse that had difficulties doing some tasks. A trainer suggested having an animal chiropractor work with her. Watching him work was amazing, my horse was at first nervous, and by the end of a half hour session, was so relaxed her legs were wobbling and she was almost asleep. And, it cured her problems. I thought if a chiropractor could do that to a 1500 pound animal, maybe I should try it. I went to my horse doctor, he also has a 'human' practice, x-rays were taken, I saw him 2-3 times a week initially, and within 3 weeks I no longer had any pain in my knees ! It was my back and hips that were causing the pain in my knees, most likely caused from an injury when I was young.

I am a 18 year old teenager who has been diagnosed with both bursitis and patella-femoral syndrome... generally my knees always hurt, wheher from walking, sitting to long, stairs, etc... Is it possible that there might have been mis-diagnosis? However if not, is there anything i can do? Or that a doctor can do for me??
