Congrats for your recovery. But my wife's pain is in upper left flank. Two years duration, Tried all opiates with no relief. Had 5 selective nerve root blocks, had 3 shots into the affected bursa all with no relief. Had 3 MRI's which showed scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, bone spurs, narrowing of spinal canal etc etc. Only good facet is that pain leaves when sitting or lying down in fetal position. Am now getting ready for spinal neurostimulation and/or decompression surgery. Beyond that I may get the German Luger I liberated in 1944. Quality of life intolerable.

Don't be discouraged! I suffered with the exact same thing as you for an entire year-- and it went away! They were all ready to do surgery to remove the bursa, but I just rested my knee for a year, and I no longer have swelling. I jog and do everything again. Hang in there!

I'm finding it rather discouraging that there are tons of pleas for help for chronic bursitis on this forum... and no solutions. I have pre-pateller bursitis that started after arthroscopic surgery for a torn meniscus. I too, have tried physical therapy, RICE, aspirin, and having my knee drained three times. I had corisone too. I just had an MRI, and nothing showed except for the swelling in the bursa sack. My doctor recommends having it removed by surgery. I don't want to do this. Please, someone... does anything else work?
