Has anyone ever mentioned that the problem you have straightening your leg might be due to scar tissue built up in your knee? I've had a similar problem with my right knee that I've had 3 surgeries on in the past 2 years. Just a thought, since that's what my surgeons keep telling me might be the problem with my inability to fully straighten my knee when walking.

hi everone i am new to this forum.
i have had trouble with my right knee for 6 years nowand i have had three surgeries
2002 after injury playing football(soccer) i had a lateral bucket handle tear and acl ruputure.
the tear was removed. 2005 acl recon using pat tendon and in november 2008 lateral and medial miniscus trim. thats my history. several weeks after my last surgery i bashed my knee on a chair right on the incision area where i had my surgery, my knee swelled up instantly and now 7 weeks later i am still making no progres with my rehab. i have had a scan done and luckily none of the ligaments or menisci have been damaged but i have swelling of the hoffa pad and the lateral patellar retinaculum.
this swelling increases after exercise to a point where i cannot fully extend my knee infact i can only fully extend my knee straight after exercise and icing. my gp ant pt think this will just evenutally go away on its own and my gp will not send me back to my surgeon. does anyone know anything about this symptom or how to best deal with it as i am getting nowhere
thanks owen
