Hey RonDawg00,

Sounds pretty awful - your injury sounds a lot like what happened to a great football player Robert Edwards playing touch football on the beach- you can read all about it in this thread . It sounds like you have a similar level of fitness to Edwards because it seems really unusual to be able to compete much less walk well with those injuries. On the contralateral vs. allograft question, most would say that you are correct.

BTW, are you in good surgical hands? Good luck with your surgery Jan. 4 and keep us posted! Hope it will be a great year for you.

Hey everyone. I tore my ACL back in September playing football. I was diagnosed with a torn LCL, torn meniscus, and a torn ACL (all in my left leg). Doctors told me I would need surgery and would not return to sports. Despite what the doctors said, I returned to soccer, as the goalkeeper, wearing a brace. From the time I tore it to now, it has only popped out twice. All the muscle in my leg are super defined and strong. I now can do everything I could do with a normal functioning ACL. I even wrestled on it and it never popped out once. So my question is this: Does this sound normal or is this a one of a kind situation?

Also, my surgery is scheduled for January 4th, 2011 and I'm pretty sure I'm getting a contralteral patellar tendon graft but I've heard that an allograft is much quicker and alot less painful than any others. The only thing is that it's weaker and carries risk of infection. Is all this true? Thanks.
