I wish I had that much success early on after surgery. I am now 1 week post op and I can barely get from my couch to the floor (which is all of 2 feet) without an INSANE amount of pain in my shin/kneecap. I am sort of mad I did the patella tendon right now. The pain is unbearable.

Hey Jacob!
Hang in there. I am 3 months post ACL reconstruction and I think you should definitely check with a knee specialist but these are my thoughts. I had serious pain right below my knee at my shin after my surgery but it was more constant and when I asked my surgeon his explanation was that they drilled into my leg to secure the graft and it was normal for it to be very sore and painful. I had pretty severe pain lifting my leg (felt so heavy and painful, i hated that brace!) but it dissapated over time. I also, wasn't doing anywhere NEAR the intensity of PT that you are doing so soon after surgery so you might consider pulling back a few notches. Most importantly, you should find a surgeon/specialist (other than your PT) in the states for you to consult with as you recover - that will be crucial and certainly give you more peace of mind.
Good luck!

Greetings there. This is Jacob, six days post-op from ACL patellar graft surgery. I am posting to the board to see if anyone has dealt with serious pain at the connect graft position at the shin bone? My pain feels as if someone is stabbing me with a fork. It's instant and specific. That is my only pain post op. My PT had me doing tons of exercises on day three and four and my progress was flying. I felt great. I woke up on day 5, tried to crutch to the bathroom, and hobbled back to the bed in incredible pain. Day four I was doing hamstring curls to 95 degrees, and today on day 6 I cannot lift my leg straight back. Is it possible my PT worked me so hard that it injured the graft? If so, is this repairable? Did anyone ever feel pain similar to this? I am a 23 year old former DII college basketball player. I opted to have my surgery in India due to financial reasons. My surgeon was trained, schooled, and certified in the UK, but I'm now feeling as if this has turned into my worst nightmare. I work full time at an International school in Kigali, Rwanda, and I do not feel ready to go back to that country. Should I go home and have this examined? Please, anyone with any advice, shout it to me. I need it. Emotionally drained, Jacob
